ICE CREAM PARLOUR "IL PELLICANO" - RICCIONE
The ice cream shop "Il Pellicano" was born in 1984 from an idea by Stefano Bernardi, a pastry chef who had grown professionally from the age of 14 in one of the historic pastry shops in Rimini, but unexpectedly developed an allergy to flour that did not allow him to continue the profession he loved and to which he dedicated himself with taste and passion.
Although very young, he decided to shift his attention to a similar sector where flour products were not the main ingredient. At 25 he then took over an ice cream shop in the historic center of Rimini, at that time the beating heart of the city.
And from there his adventure begins...
At first he relies on the experience of a leading company in the sector that teaches him about the balance of the mixes and the preparation of the ice cream, using its semi-finished products, but Stefano immediately realizes that this is not what he wants to present and propose to his customers... He literally throws away all the products purchased and with his experience as a pastry chef and the knowledge acquired he begins to produce the "real artisanal ice cream".
The cream made as at home, with six fresh egg yolks from the poultry farms in the area, the zabaglione with Marsala Mirabella cooked in the pan, the chocolate obtained by mixing the best Dutch cocoas, the sorbets made strictly with fresh fruit linked to the seasonality and resources of the territory.
The quality raw materials and the imagination in proposing new innovative flavors mean that in a short time the ice cream shop becomes a meeting point for lovers of "good ice cream".
In 1991, by popular demand from the many resident customers, a new production and sales point was opened in Marina Centro, in Viale Vespucci, where Pellicano, the first in Rimini, dedicated a space to crepes. The place was managed by Rita, Stefano's wife and his long-time collaborator.
In the meantime, Andrea and Silvia were born and grew up together with the family business, breathing in its constant commitment and passion. At a very young age, they began to actively participate in the life of the ice cream shops and this gave rise to the desire and will to continue carrying on the family tradition.
Andrea and Silvia, in addition to the constant search for excellent raw materials, know the "secret", that is, the magical ingredients that make the difference and make artisanal products special.
Today Pellicano has several production and sales points between Rimini and Riccione, all family-run. Each store has its own peculiarities and seasonality: in addition to ice cream, we also offer single portions of semifreddo, fresh yogurt and fruit, Sicilian granitas, ice lollies, crepes, coffee, biscuits and much more.
For special occasions and to cheer up the company, they offer cakes and ice cream slices, semifreddo, fruit cakes, cake design, wedding cakes and confectionery service. For those who love baked goods, simple or filled shortcrust pastry, biscuits and tarts and the new entry, their own panettone, as in the best Christmas tradition.
