SAGRA DEL RANOCCHIO - CONSELICE
In Conselice, still called "E paes di ranòcc" (the town of frogs) due to the valley environment where for centuries this amphibian has dominated unchallenged, which later became obligatory food for the poor people, the inhabitants of the town wanted to dedicate a monument , created by the Conselicese artist Giampiero Baldazzi and even his own festival.
We have reached the forty-ninth edition of the festival and this inevitably marks the whole history of our community. In the central square of Conselice, on the third weekend of September, thousands of people meet to taste the flavors of a gastronomic tradition that brings us back to the cuisine of our azdòre which with frogs are the real protagonists of this festival.
In fact, there are over one hundred conselic and non-conselic volunteers who bring to the guests' tables an absolutely peculiar menu that makes the festival a full-blown "festival".
This festival, born in 1973, is one of the oldest festivals in Romagna and frogs with sauce and fried are a recipe that still today brings among us countless visitors and admirers of good Romagna cuisine.
In fact, the festival menu is obviously focused on the frog, a basic ingredient for risotto, but it is also prepared fried and with sauce. The food stand also offers an alternative menu with sausage, Romagna cutting board, polenta, etc., designed for children and for those who really don't like the frog.
The hospitable atmosphere, the musical events, the simplicity of our community that gathers together, make the festival an appointment awaited not only by the Conselices, but also by the many frequent visitors who come from afar and from neighboring countries.
There will be five days - from 15 to 19 September - that will see the squares and streets of Conselice come to life thanks to this event, which traditionally closes the conselicese summer by proposing events such as exhibitions, quality musical performances, comedy shows, attractions, markets reuse and hobby and various animations.
