Flower Carpet - Bruxelles
The event has been held every two years since 1986.
The first edition was in 1971; its creator is the landscape architect Etienne Stautemas, originally from Zottegem and born in 1927.
He began making the first carpets using the flower most dear to him, the begonia, resistant to any type of climatic condition.
1680 square meters of begonias , dahlias and other flowers are used to make the Brussels Flower Carpet .
All this is made possible thanks to a hundred volunteers who in about four hours of intense work bring this magnificent show of colors to life.
In addition, to make the event even more evocative and engaging, soundtracks and visuals are used to accompany the viewer's gaze and mind on this splendid journey.
Each edition differs from the previous ones for the specially composed music and the sound and light shows renewed every evening.
Begonia has always been the privileged flower, the only thing that will never change.
